UAE: New platform helps jobseekers land their first role

For young graduates, the process of finding internships and securing their first job can be quite challenging. However, a startup based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged to assist young individuals in obtaining their initial employment opportunities within prominent local and international companies.

Oliv is a recruitment platform that operates in the UAE and primarily caters to individuals under the age of 30 in the Gulf region and Pakistan. The platform specializes in offering internships, freelance work, and remote job opportunities.

Adeel Abid, the chief business officer of Oliv, explained during an interview with Khaleej Times at the Expand North Star exhibition in Dubai that the platform is designed for university students in their final years and recent graduates with two to four years of experience who are seeking jobs or internships. Oliv collaborates with renowned brands such as Careem, Sephora, Sony, and many others to provide job opportunities to individuals under the age of 30.

The platform currently boasts a database of over 10,000 employers and has registered 500,000 candidates from countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and other GCC countries. Notable companies listed on Oliv’s website include Sephora, Careem, Samsung, Canon, Johnson’s, and Bose.

Abid further highlighted that Oliv offers candidates the chance to enhance their skills through interactive master classes and learning programs. Upon completion of these courses, candidates receive a certificate. Additionally, Oliv provides free resources for CV writing and interview preparation.

Abid emphasized that Oliv’s philosophy revolves around the concept of learning and earning. The platform aims to teach and assist candidates in earning income if they are unable to secure a job or internship. The majority of Oliv’s companies and candidates, over 80 percent, are based in the UAE. Furthermore, the platform implements a vetting process for all candidates.
