‘UAE Consensus’ a historic step to advance global climate action: Arab Parliament President

Adel bin AbdulRahman Alasoomi, President of the Arab Parliament (AP), affirmed that “The UAE Consensus” approved by representatives of 197 countries in addition to the European Union at COP28 is a historic step to advance global climate action.

Alasoomi congratulated the UAE on the success of COP28, stressing that this global event embodied the leadership and pioneering of the UAE’s climate diplomacy, which has proven its competence, ability, and leadership in global climate action.

The President of the Arab Parliament called for the need to use “The UAE Consensus” to put forward urgent and rapid solutions to climate issues.

Alasoomi valued the initiative announced by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to establish a US$30 billion fund for global climate solutions, as well as the UAE’s investment of US$100 billion in climate action and renewable and clean energy.

He appreciated these pioneering initiatives, which underscore the UAE’s dedication to supporting global climate action and fostering sustainable development for the good and benefit of all of humanity.
