SSC launches “Our Holiday is Different” on Monday

Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) launches the tenth edition of its summer programme “Our Holiday is Different” on Monday, July 1, 2024. The programmes continues for a month and with the participation of young men in the age group 7-12 years and 13-17 years. The programme has traditionally been held annually with the aim of investing in the summer vacation.
“Our Holiday is Different” includes a number of recreational, educational, religious, sports and cultural events, trips, competitions, workshops with the participation of members of 16 Sharjah sports and specialised clubs, provided that the programme’s activities are held at the Wasit Youth Centre in Sharjah.

The programme starts the first week under the title “Here is Sharjah” and highlights the emirate’s tourist attractions and museums and organising visits for members. The week second holds the title “I am an athlete” to encourage practicing sports and considering it a way of life, and organising sports activities on the sidelines of the programme. The third week is “National Identity” to further strengthen the members’ love of the homeland and national heritage. The fourth week holds the title “Sustainability” and emphasises the importance of sports to participants. The fifth week holds the name “I am a volunteer” to motivate participants to participate in volunteer programmes and volunteer teams in different events.

Participating clubs in this year’s edition include Sharjah Sports Club, Al Bataeh, Khorfakkan Sports Clubs, Dibba Al Hisn and Al Dhaid, Mleiha, Al Madam, Al Hamriyah, Kalba, Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, Sharjah for Self-Defense Sports, Sharjah International for Marine Sports, Al Thaqa for the Disabled, Khorfakkan for the Disabled and Sharjah Classic Cars Club, and Sharjah Falconers Club.

Mohammed Ali bin Hammad, Director of the Government Communications Department and Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Summer Communication Committee, pointed out that participation in the activities of the 2024 edition saw a great demand from members in different Sharjah clubs.

He added that there will be a programme called “My children are a priority” presented Khaled Al Hammadi and the participants throughout the event, which is one of the distinctive details of this year.

He pointed out that the turnout reflects the value of the programme and the interest of families in enrolling their children, as it includes everything that meets the requirements of this age group.
