Abu Dhabi to host ‘CyberQ: Security in the Quantum Era’ in November

The UAE Cyber Security Council, in partnership with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), announced that “CyberQ: Security in the Quantum Era” will be held on 12th and 13th November at the ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.

The inaugural event will bring together international experts, key policymakers and industry players to discuss the fundamental challenges of the quantum age of cybersecurity.

CyberQ aims to lead the conversation on preparing for and mitigating these emerging threats, positioning the UAE at the forefront of quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions.

Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, said, “Under the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, CyberQ is on time as we get ready to unveil three additional cyber security strategies by the end of this year. These focus on advanced technologies such as cloud and data security, Internet of Things, and Cyber Security Operations Centres, putting the UAE at the forefront of advanced technologies and AI.”

Dr. Al-Kuwaiti also revealed that executive regulations for the encryption law, vital for securing quantum-compatible data transmissions, are expected to be released by year-end.

“Our ambition is to establish the UAE as a global data hub,” he added, “which requires robust laws and partnerships across public and private sectors.”

Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute, stated, “Quantum computers promise to solve complex problems at unprecedented speeds. However, they also pose a significant threat to traditional encryption methods. At TII, we’re dedicated to developing next-generation cryptographic and quantum communication technologies to safeguard sensitive information against threats like the ‘Store Now, Decrypt Later’ strategy.”

The two-day conference will feature keynote speeches from world-renowned experts in quantum computing and cybersecurity; panel discussions on the implications of quantum technologies for current security protocols; workshops on implementing quantum-safe cryptography solutions; networking opportunities with industry leaders and policymakers; and demonstrations of cutting-edge quantum-safe technologies.
