As part of its security programmes throughout the year, the Community Police Department at Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC) organised the “Security Sense” workshop, targeting employees of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA). 53 employees participated in the workshop.
The workshop aimed to raise the sense of security among the Authority’s employees and enhance the necessary skills to deal with different security situations, whether on the personal or institutional level.
The workshop was presented by Colonel Abdul Rahman Khalfan Al Khayal, Head of Community Centres and Majlis at the Community Police Department, and included a number of topics on the concept and importance of security sense, developing security awareness, suspicious behaviours and ways to identify them, the importance of cooperation and reporting negative phenomena.
Colonel Abdul Rahman Khalfan Al Khayal also gave an explanation about the smart “Guard” service for reporting negative phenomena in the Emirate of Sharjah, explaining the important role of community members as they are partners in social responsibility in confronting negative phenomena that require integrated community efforts.
Colonel Al Khayal stressed SPGC keenness in launching awareness programmes and campaigns that enhance the security culture among individuals and activate their preventive role to protect society from negative phenomena. He concluded that it is important that community members be among the lines of defense of their society by monitoring wrong behaviours and negative phenomena, and their cooperation with police agencies to achieve community security.
