Euro 2024: Spain into semi-finals after thrilling 2-1 win over hosts Germany

Spain has secured their spot in the Euro 2024 semi-finals after a thrilling 2-1 extra-time victory over hosts Germany in a quarter-final clash at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart.

The match was fiercely competitive, with both teams creating numerous chances but struggling to break the deadlock. Dani Olmo put Spain ahead in the 51st minute, but Germany’s Florian Wirtz equalised dramatically in the 89th minute, forcing the game into extra time.

In the 119th minute, Mikel Merino scored the decisive goal, sending Spanish fans into a frenzy. Spain will now face either France or Portugal in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
