The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has commenced the evaluation process for the 2024 edition of the Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research. This award aims to encourage educational research across the Arab world, spotlighting exemplary practices that advance learning.
This year, the award has attracted 154 research submissions from 11 Arab nations, with Saudi Arabia contributing the most with 103 research papers, followed by Egypt with 17 and the UAE with 16. Other participating countries include Jordan, Kuwait, and Oman, showcasing a regional commitment to educational innovation.
Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General and CEO of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, commented on the increase in submissions, stating, “The significant rise in submissions this year is a clear indicator of the dedication shown by educational researchers across the Arab world towards improving the quality of education.”
He further emphasised the award’s mission to stimulate creative thinking in educational research and find innovative solutions to the sector’s most pressing challenges. “We look forward to seeing these research efforts contribute to the creation of robust, sustainable educational systems that support the future of learning across the Arab region,” he added.
The Hamdan-ALECSO Award serves as a prominent platform for recognising institutions and individuals for their distinguished contributions to education. The award seeks to inspire educational researchers to produce outstanding work that benefits the region’s educational ecosystem, identifying successful educational practices, and addressing key challenges through rigorous research.
An international panel of experienced academics will evaluate the submissions. The total prize money amounts to US$25,000, targeting a broad range of researchers, including teachers, school administrators, social workers, psychologists, and university professors, all focused on driving innovation in education.
The award supports new technological initiatives and modern teaching methodologies, ensuring the educational sector remains at the forefront of innovation.
