Extension of Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Award Nominations Until September 10

Dubai: The organizing committee of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women Sports Award has announced the extension of the nomination period for the award’s seventh edition. The deadline, which was originally set for August 31, 2023, has now been extended until September 10. This decision was made in response to the increasing number of applications and to provide ample time for interested individuals to submit their nominations. The extension reflects the committee’s commitment to offering equal opportunities to applicants from the UAE and various Arab countries.

Mariam Al Mansoori, a representative of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, emphasized the committee’s dedication to supporting women’s sports in the Arab world by providing equal opportunities to all. The award, held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, aims to recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements in women’s sports. It is organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

The nomination period extension was prompted by the high demand for candidacy from various Arab countries. The new deadline of September 10 allows interested individuals to submit their applications for the seventh edition of the award. The winners will be announced during a ceremony scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on November 15. The final candidates will be selected by a jury consisting of prominent sports figures from the Arab world.

The award comprises a prize pool of Dh1.8 million and includes 11 categories at the individual and group levels. Individual level awards recognize achievements such as Best Arab Women Athlete, Best Emirati Women Athlete, Best Youth Athlete, Best Paralympic Athlete, Best Female/Male Coach, and Best Sports Media. The seventh edition also introduces a new category, the Best Sports Mother Award.

At the federation and institution level, awards are given for Best Youth Development Program, Best Team, and Best Sports Creative Initiative. Additionally, the Academy presents a special award to honor the Arab Sport Personality of the Year, recognizing an outstanding Arab personality for their remarkable performance and contributions to women’s sports.
