The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has implemented an automated system for issuing permits for supplementary information signs. These permits can now be accessed on the RTA’s official website (www.rta.ae). This initiative is part of the RTA’s ongoing efforts to digitally transform its services, with the aim of providing convenient and intelligent solutions that are accessible to customers at all times and from any location.
To request a supplementary information sign permit, individuals can visit the RTA’s website and submit their applications through the integrated system. This system is connected to various other systems, including the financial and electronic mapping systems, as well as the company licensing systems of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
The RTA issues permits that allow for the installation of supplementary signs at specific locations. These permits are granted to entities such as health and emergency facilities, transportation hubs, public places, and major tourist destinations, provided they meet the conditions outlined in the Executive Council Resolution (23) of 2013 No. (3) of 2021. This resolution regulates the issuance of supplementary information signs on Dubai roads. Consequently, the design, installation, maintenance, and removal of these signs must adhere to the standards, legal requirements, and technical specifications outlined in the Executive Council’s Resolution and the RTA’s Traffic Control Means Manual.
The system enhances operational efficiency, reduces paper usage, and streamlines procedures for all customers. It exemplifies RTA’s dedication to improving service standards and adhering to industry best practices in order to maximize customer satisfaction. It aligns with RTA’s strategic objective of enhancing competitiveness and promoting customer happiness.
The system allows customers to apply for and obtain permits through RTA’s website, eliminating the need for paper documentation. The service is available 24/7, providing customers with the flexibility to access it at their convenience, without having to visit RTA service centers. Once the automated payment is completed, the permit is electronically issued. The system sends notifications to customers via their mobile phones and emails to keep them informed about the status of their applications. This new service enables users to renew, cancel, or inquire about the status of their permit.
The design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and removal of supplementary signs must be overseen by an approved or appointed contractor designated by RTA. The contractor is required to provide RTA with installation plans after conducting field studies of the locations where the signs will be placed.
