Sharjah Department of Culture launches 3rd Nigeria Arabic Poetry Forum

The third edition of the Arabic Poetry Forum was launched in Nigeria under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture in collaboration with the Charitable Foundation for Teaching and Spreading of Arabic Language in Nigeria, the forum featured 14 male and female poets.

Held at the National Development Centre in Abuja as part of the Poetry Forums Initiative in Africa, the event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Awal Al-Sudani, Advisor to the Governor of Kaduna State, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Thani Ali, a representative from the Nigerian Ministry of Education, along with professors, students, and poetry enthusiasts.

In his remarks, Ali expressed deep gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for supporting poetry forums across Africa, emphasising their role in promoting Arabic culture and language.

The readings showcased diverse themes, including love, hope, and homeland, with contributions from 14 poets. The forum concluded with a ceremony honouring participants with certificates of appreciation for their creative efforts, encouraging the continued pursuit of poetry.
