‘Shurooq’ a driving force in local, regional economic development

Since its establishment in 2009, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has become a driving force in local and regional economic development.

Shurooq adopted a comprehensive strategy focused on four key sectors: real estate development, hospitality, commercial and entertainment centres, and arts and culture.

Shurooq aimed to ensure that the goal of this integrated strategy is to strengthen sustainability and continuously promote innovation.

Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, said, “What distinguishes Shurooq is its comprehensive development vision, rooted in its commitment to the Emirate of Sharjah and the competitiveness of the Emirati markets, with a focus on the social developmental returns of economic activity.” He emphasised that Shurooq is a development body that believes in the complementary relationship between various sectors.”

He added, “Shurooq believes that success must be comprehensive. Through its real estate projects, it aims to establish high-quality residential communities and provide a range of options, services, and conveniences for residents, as seen in the Maryam Island and Ajwan projects.”

He highlighted that Shurooq is dedicated to establishing future cities and communities that operate with smart and sustainable systems, exemplified by the “Sharjah Sustainable City.”

The real estate development sector is intertwined with hospitality, tourism, entertainment, commercial centres, culture, and arts. The synergy among these sectors is crucial for enhancing social well-being and improving residents’ quality of life. This integration provides diverse options for social activities, learning, interaction, and shopping.
