H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), and Chairman of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC), today attended the signing of a professorship funding agreement between the UoS and SNOC.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of SNOC; Dr. Hamid Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of UoS; Hatem Al Mousa, CEO of SNOC; and several officials from both parties. The agreement was signed by Dr. Al-Naimiy and Al Mousa.
The agreement stipulates that SNOC shall fund a professorship chair in the name of the corporation at the UoS to enrich the university’s research and educational activities and enhance its role in developing society.
The areas of the professorship agreement include supporting scientific research and development of energy, water, environment and other fields with the necessary equipment, resources and systems and supporting and funding scientific conferences related to energy, water and environment, including the Forum for Women in Research organised by UoS.
The agreement stipulated that UoS shall propose studies and research according to the agreed upon fields within a specialised team of faculty members and experts who will conduct these studies and research.
The cooperation also includes practical training and supervision of the research of university students at the master’s and doctoral levels. According to the signed agreement, SNOC shall finance the professorship project at UoS by allocating an annual budget of AED1 million for ten years.
