The UAE Government has published a detailed discussion paper that calls for a decisive and coordinated international response to the urgent threat of global water scarcity. Entitled ‘Ripple Effect Water Scarcity – The hidden threat to global security and prosperity’, the discussion paper examines global water scarcity and its main causes, highlights various implications of water scarcity already evident in parts of the world, and identifies a range of potential solutions to this rapidly worsening issue.

A study by the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) found that the area globally covered by mangrove trees declined by 14.8 million hectares between 2000 and 2020 due to factors such as aquaculture expansion, natural retraction, oil palm cultivation, rice farming, and direct human encroachment.

Dubai Police Records 107 Accidents in 8 Months Due to Lane Violations
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, the Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, has brought attention to the significant consequences of disregarding mandatory traffic lanes. In the past eight months alone, a total of 107 accidents have occurred as a result of this violation.
