As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the culture of occupational health and safety among its employees, and its keenness to provide a healthy and safe work environment, in accordance with the best international standards, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) organised 15 training programmes in the fields of health, safety and environment during the year 2023.
The training programmes come as part of SEWA commitment to professional development and excellence.
Fatima Al Kazem, Head of the Safety, Health and Environment Department, explained that the training courses, organised by the SEWA, during 2023, in the field of health, safety and environment included awareness of safety procedures during welding operations; training on dealing with mechanisms and forklifts; correct procedures for dealing with gas, health, safety and environment management system; waste management, managing and dealing with chemicals, and the basics of fire safety; proper use of fire extinguishers and raising the level of environmental awareness and safety procedures during the use of hasardous materials and electrical safety.
Al Kazem stressed SEWA keenness to keep employees abreast of all developments and the latest global developments related to occupational health and safety through continuous training, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and discussing mechanisms and methods for improving employees health and safety systems and ways to improve efficiency.
